Cheiron School 2010

Spring-8 Synchrotron, Japan
9-18 October 2010

New Zealand has been offered the opportunity to send 7 people to the 2010 Cheiron School held each year at the Spring-8 Synchrotron in Japan. In addition, funding for all travel, accommodation and meal costs is being offered for 2 of those 7 people.

The Cheiron School's main aim is to provide useful and basic knowledge as well as perspectives of synchrotron radiation science and technology for graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, young scientists and engineers who wish to pursue their career in a field requiring synchrotron radiation.

New Zealand Synchrotron Group is therefore calling for applications from interested students and early career researchers. Applications close at 5pm on 9 June and can be emailed to synchrotron@rsnz.org

There is no application form, but applicants should include a CV and a covering letter stating why and how attending the School would enhance their careers and indicating whether or not they would accept one of the non-funded positions if they are not successful in obtaining one of the two fully-funded positions.

In addition, on a separate sheet, the following information should be provided:

Note this information is required by the organisers of the School and will not form any part in the selection by NZSG of which applicants to nominate to attend the School.
